What is Cares 4 Kids?
Cares 4 Kids is the Openwork Foundation's current theme and is the focus of our grant-giving programme (it was previously known as Kids2Care4).
Cares 4 Kids is designed to support children and young people in the UK and overseas, between the ages of 0 and 18 years, who are disadvantaged - socially, mentally or physically.

The need
Children deserve the best – the best care, the best facilities, the best nursing, the best therapy and the best education. Young carers need respite and support, young homeless need help to be able to cope with society, and children with learning difficulties need specialised education. Many children, even in the 21st century, still live in poverty, suffer abuse, neglect and deprivation. What we take for granted, others dream of.
Making a difference
Cares 4 Kids will make a difference to the lives of some of these vulnerable children and young people and help them move from dependence to independence. We do this by supporting charities and organisations that help these young people achieve a better quality of life and a more independent future for themselves.
Our support
We help charities by making local grants and discretionary grants across the UK to support projects that meet our Cares 4 Kids funding criteria. In addition, we also work in partnership with three national children’s charities.
Cares 4 Kids projects
Already Cares 4 Kids has helped to buy specially adapted minibuses, specialist medical and mobility equipment, hydrotherapy pools, adventure playgrounds and holiday homes for disabled children or children with cancer and has supported several children's hospices and orphanages.
